CHARLESTON TO SAVANNAH

Slow down,

Charleston and Savannah belong to another time. Not in a nostalgic way, but in the sense that while the rest of the world sped up, these two did not. They remain unbothered, unhurried.

Doors left open. Paint worn just enough. Ironwork, shutters, brick, gardens spilling over edges. Light that does not pass through quickly, it lingers.

You feel it in your bones before you can explain it. It’s why these have become two of our most requested places to return to, and we’re more than happy to oblige. This time, we’re bringing them together in a way we’ve never done before. The very best of each, in one workshop.

We begin in Charleston, where everything feels quietly composed.

There is a natural elegance to it. Streets that feel considered without ever feeling staged. Soft coastal light, long lines, restrained color, and a sense that everything is exactly where it belongs. The longer you stay with it, the more it opens to you.

Then Savannah draws you further in.

Less polished, more atmospheric. The city unfolds in layers. Squares tucked into one another, moss shifting in the breeze, shadows moving slowly across the ground. It feels slower, deeper. You wander without a plan. You follow what holds your attention.

This is not about covering ground. It is about staying long enough for something real to emerge.

Days are spent observing closely, letting the environment shape what you notice and how you respond. There is no urgency here. Nothing to chase. And in that space, the work begins to carry weight.

Then we return to the images.

We look carefully. We talk through what is happening in the frame. What holds. Where it falls away. What feels honest. What feels imposed. It is a quieter kind of refinement, but one that stays with you.

Tony is there throughout. Not directing, but guiding. Offering perspective at the right moments, helping you recognize what is already present and how to move closer to it.

This workshop carries a different kind of energy.

Quieter. More grounded.
It asks for your full presence.

If you have been craving a place that draws something deeper out of your work, this is it.

Settle into the South. We’ll meet you there.

We’re ready for you.

We want nothing more than for you to show up as yourself in your photography and in your life. We are excited to see what YOU bring to the table, and we’re standing by, ready to help you when you show up for your dreams.

“In classic Tony fashion, gathering cool people in a cool place doing cool things is just magical!”

“With Tony’s guidance, I began seeing differently and capturing images I never would have before. His thoughtfully chosen locations set us up for success. The critique sessions were a highlight—offering both Tony’s expert feedback and insight into how others saw each scene. This was more than a trip; I’m leaving with skills that will shape my photography moving forward.”

The A’s to your Q’s

  • Our daily schedule is designed to maximize great light and photographic opportunities. We usually begin with a morning photo session on location, followed by a break for you to have a meal or work on your images. After that, we'll have a critique session, followed by an evening shoot. You'll have time to enjoy a leisurely dinner before getting some rest for the day ahead. Our schedule strikes a balance between keeping you busy and allowing enough downtime to rest your creative muscles.

  • We want you to be able to choose the experience that resonates with you based on your preferences and budget, We will let you know where we will be staying and critiquing so you can select the same hotel or one nearby.

  • Tuition covers six days of amazing hand-selected locations (for the utmost in photogenic beauty, of course) and daily critiques. It covers belly laughs, new friendships, top-notch instruction, and help one-on-one with Tony while photographing. And in Italy, one round of gelato.

  • During our workshop, most of your time will be dedicated to on-location photography, critiques, and editing. There won't be much downtime for leisurely activities or relaxation with your partner as you would on a typical vacation.

If your partner is the independent and easygoing type who can entertain themselves throughout the day, purchasing an extra plane ticket for them might be a good idea. They can explore the local area or engage in their own activities while you focus on the workshop.

  • So we strongly recommend getting travel insurance; it's always better to be safe than sorry. Check out our Terms of Service link below for details and recommendations.

  • PB is for photographers who want to take amazing photographs, and we take this very seriously. Time spent on students' computer issues undermines the workshop experience for other participants, and we're just not cool with that. Please ensure all of your technology is up to date and in excellent working order before attending.

  • A working laptop (with plenty of storage and a long-lasting battery and charger cable) with the LATEST version of Lightroom, your camera (in tip-top shape), and any lenses you love and that bring you joy, and some extra cards and batteries, and maybe some sunscreen (reef-safe of course!).
